Back to Wordpress…
Well, I’ve decided to get back into posting on my poor neglected website, and have changed the blog software over to Wordpress again from Drupal, it’s much better to use for my purposes, and the install and importing posts was really quick, so hopefully there’ll be more posts from me shortly!
In case anyone’s wondering about how the mini-triathlon went back in June last year, we came 24th out of 58 competitors, so slightly better than I hoped for!

Hi Gwil, great to see you return to wordpress and hopefully start to blog more. I like your new site, a simple theme but makes the content really clear,
Re your email on what wordpress plugins do I recommend. Here are a few, in no particular order.
Askimet – Comes with the basic wordpress install and fights spam
All in One SEO Pack – Works with your site as a whole and your posts to ensure it is SEO’d up – Particularly Meta tags. CHECK that your theme doesn’t over ride it though, (by having the meta’s twice in your page code.
cforms – if you want to make a contact us form.
Feedburner Feedsmith – Burn your RSS feed with Googles Feedburner, and they also offer a email “newsletter” which sends a daily email of your posts to your subscribers.
Google XML Sitemaps by Arne Brachold – This creates and manages your sitemap.
Postalicious – Used to use this to “Micro blog”, any website I tag with delicious it would post every x at a time but I don’t really bother with it now.
RSS Footer by Joost De Valk – Adds a footer, eg First published on Gwil.co.uk to every post (in case other websites scrape your content)
Simple Tags – Does many things but my favourite is that it suggests the tags I should use for each post using tag the net and yahoo.
Twitter tools, tweets your posts, posts your tweets or both!
Wordpress.com stats (the stats)
Wordpress Database Backup – (by Austin Matzko) allows you to set daily / weekly emails with your database
WP Google Analytics – (By Aaron D Campell) Adds the Google analytics code to your site
Yet another Related Posts Plugin – Adds to the bottom of each post a list of automatically generated related posts.
Add to Any Share save bookmark – adds a share on digg etc etc etc button
Redirection – cos on one of my sites I messed up my permalinks
So thats what I use, your’ll find for every task there are several plugins you can use, I don’t often use the one that does the most, just the one that does what I want.
Let me know what you end up using!
Also I suggest you 301 redirect gwil.co.uk/drupal to gwil.co.uk for all your fans who had bookmarked your site!!!
All the best
Charles
